The Skubotics story, assets included.

Company backstory, milestones since 2010, official logos and brochures - everything you need to write about us.

Backstory

“Robotics in School” originally aimed to close the gap between theoretical sciences and practical applications, following the STEM model. Skubotics, initially known as the “Robotics in Schools”, emerged with the primary goal of addressing this gap by educating schools on utilizing robotics to enhance the study curriculum, making it more engaging and hands-on. The evolution from an education provider to a service and products-based entity has been a gradual process spanning from 2010 to the present day.

01 / Timeline

2010 to now.

2010

Ideation

“Robotics in School” is created, with a groundbreaking initiative tailored to captivate the minds of young learners, focusing on immersing school students in hands-on experiences with Manual Robotics. By igniting their curiosity and creativity, this program offered practical engagement, interactive activities and projects, steering away from traditional classroom methods. We start approaching various schools in and around Kolkata with our initiative, trying to introduce youngsters to the fascinating world of technology and foster a passion for innovation from an early age, shaping the future leaders of tomorrow’s technological landscape.

2011

Pilot

Within a year of inception, “Robotics in Schools” engages with more than 200 students across five schools in the Kolkata region, delving into the realm of Manual Robotics and Arduino-based robotics. Expanding our reach, we extend our activities to Durgapur as well, conducting successful workshops at prestigious institutions such as Xaviers and Hemsheela.

We even establish partnerships with multiple marketing firms to raise awareness about our initiative, aiming to connect with an increasing number of parents and encourage them to enroll their children in our programs.

2012

Entrench

“Robotics in Schools” is renamed to “Skubotics”, and with this rebranding, we expand our focus to include engineering colleges, offering supplementary courses in Embedded Systems, Robotics and Internet of Things, alongside their standard curriculum.

We continue to face challenges in expanding the reach of our courses across all colleges on a significant scale. The dilemma of “why learn?” remains a hurdle, particularly when students show a preference for traditional, on-site training programs facilitated by companies, which were prevalent at that time.

2013

Accretion

We persist in encountering obstacles in gaining significant traction among colleges, as we struggle to find an effective marketing channel to reach a wide audience of students and convene them all in one place.

In order to support our initiative, we commence undertaking paid projects for MSMEs and nearby small businesses in the domain of microcontroller-based micro-automation through established networks. These projects entail upgrading various routine factory processes, ensuring the sustainability of Skubotics and maintaining a steady cash flow. This enables us to organize complimentary workshops and seminars, garnering attention from a wider audience.

2014

Tryouts

We manufacture our first ever product, Tduino, designed as an affordable beginner-level robotics board tailored for hobbyists, leveraging the widely recognized Arduino hardware platform to support our workshops and trainings. At this point, we lacked a fully equipped laboratory for our daily operations, relying instead on a modest 5-by-5 apartment room for development and debugging. An intriguing anecdote involves our use of Photoshop to refine the PCB layout of Tduino, which was initially a single-sided PCB.

2014

Epiphany

We meet the founding members of Mywbut, a renowned figure known for organizing numerous online technical events in engineering colleges, marking a significant milestone for us. Our breakthrough arrives as we conduct a robotics workshop for Mywbut, in a compact 6-by-6 room at Rabindra Sadan, receiving resoundingly positive feedback from all participants. This success catapults our training sessions into the spotlight, initiating our journey into offline mass training programs along with Mywbut as our marketing partner.

2015

Expansion

Our seminars, workshops and training programs receive overwhelming praise from students, leading to an annual enrollment of 3000–4000 participants, with over 99% expressing satisfaction. Our courses prove immensely beneficial, aiding students not only in their academic pursuits but also in securing positions in top-tier multinational companies, thanks to the content of our programmes.

We continue to collaborate with clients on diverse software and hardware prototypes, eventually securing a challenging product design project. Remarkably, the client sends us to Shenzhen, China, to oversee its proprietary development in the factories. A notable advantage is the opportunity to witness the origins of our components and parts firsthand at the SEG Building in Hua Qiang Bei!

Now

Present

Presently, we are a multifaceted company offering products and services with expertise in internet of things, embedded systems, robotics, analog electronics, PCB design and manufacturing, 3D printing, aeromodelling, web development, and mobile app development. To date, we have successfully trained over 50,000 students and intend to persist with our training initiatives. Our portfolio includes design and manufacturing projects for small organizations, MSMEs, private firms, and governmental entities, along with numerous software products for international and domestic clients.
